Seaway 7 – Baltyk II and Baltyk III OWF – February 2026 to Present – Termination & Testing of 66kV inter-array cables (Poland)
SPIE Wind Connect, has been awarded a contract by Seaway 7 to undertake the termination and testing of the 66kV inter-array cable network connecting the wind turbine generators (WTGs) to the offshore substations (OSS). The main offshore campaign is expected to be initiated toward the end of the second quarter of 2026, with completion planned for the first half of 2027.
The Baltyk II and Baltyk III offshore wind farms are large-scale renewable energy projects located within the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone in the southwestern Baltic Sea, The wind farm layout is characterised by ten strings of five WTGs each, with all turbines connected to the OSS via 66 kV inter-array cables. Within each string, the outermost WTG will be connected using a 400 mm² inter-array cable, after which a 1000 mm² cable will carry the total string power to the OSS. The total cable lengths are currently estimated at approximately 90 km for the 400 mm² cables and 105 km for the 1000 mm² cables, with final lengths to be confirmed through detailed engineering.
Scope of work (but not limited to} the following:
- Pre-term testing as per the ITP.
- WTG protection.
- Re-install part sections of the containment.
- Routing and cleating of the 3 x cores per subsea cable.
- Heating and straightening of cores.
- Installation of fire protection sleeves from HOC to Connex joints.
- Routing of the fibre optic cable 1 x 48 core per subsea cable.
- Terminations on OSS (Pfisterer Connex size 4).
- Terminations on FOU (Nexans).
- Fibre Optic splicing.
- Continuous monitoring system.
- Post termination testing as per the ITP.
- HV VLF & PD, TP-to-TP testing.
- Handover completion documentation.
