At WindEnergy Hamburg 2026, SPIE and Wirescan joinforces to strengthen cable diagnostics and field services

Cergy, 24th September 2026 – SPIE Global Services Energy, a subsidiary of SPIE – the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications – announces that its offshore wind high-voltage specialised entity, SPIE Wind Connect, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wirescan AS.

Signed at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026, the MoU establishes a framework for closer commercial and operational cooperation, combining SPIE Wind Connect’s expertise in highvoltage field services for the wind energy sector with Wirescan’s cable diagnostic technology and expertise.

The collaboration will focus on several areas, including LIRA (Line Impedance Resonance Analysis) cable measurement and diagnostic services, LIRA One equipment availability and rental, specialist technical training, field service execution, and the development of joint case studies and industry initiatives.

By combining Wirescan’s LIRA cable condition-monitoring technology and diagnostic expertise with SPIE Wind Connect’s capabilities in field inspection, testing and cable services, the two companies aim to support wind farm operators and other industry stakeholders in improving cable condition assessment and field-service capabilities.

The MoU provides a framework for the companies to further develop their cooperation. SPIE Wind Connect and Wirescan will now work towards detailed commercial and operational agreements covering the individual areas of collaboration.

The partnership reflects the companies’ shared ambition to strengthen specialised technical services for the growing wind energy sector and to support the reliable operation of wind power infrastructure.
